The At War series was a number of hardback books looking at the wartime careers of classic military aircraft, or in some cases military organisation. Each book comprises a collection of first-hand accounts by the men who flew and serviced the aircraft, illustrated by numerous b+w photographs to recreate the atmosphere of the time. The text and photographs combine to trace the history of the type during its wartime service in all the major theatres of war. Some of the later titles go further and present a pictorial history of the entire career of the subject aircraft, with a reduced emphasis on first hand accounts.
